Jacobs is searching for a Junior Structural Engineer to join our growing Ontario Transportation Business. This individual needs to be highly personal and a quick learner. Your initial role will be to undertake field reviews, field inspections, and structural calculations on a variety of road and transit structures. Following an initial training period your role will progressively grow to include supporting our business development and project delivery teams. The incumbent should be willing to work in a team environment, interact with clients and approval agencies, and assist project/lead engineers in their deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Report to Project/Lead Engineer and perform design and inspection tasks including:

  • Undertake structural site investigations to support design.
  • Undertake bridge, culvert, dam and retaining wall inspections.
  • Perform miscellaneous field reviews during construction.
  • Perform miscellaneous design calculation and calculation checks.
  • Perform structural evaluations.
  • Review local standards and develop site specific non-standard specifications.
  • Produce technical reports and memos to support design.
  • Works closely with Project/Lead Engineer during all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Develop engineering sketches.
  • Work with technologist to develop drawings.
  • Other duties as required.
Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:
  • 0-3 years of experience in road/bridge construction and design.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structures/bridges from an accredited university is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation an asset.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software (such as SAP2000, CSiBridge, MIDAS Civil) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the CHBDC an asset.
  • Knowledge of OSIM an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
  • Committed team player.
  • Experience with site inspections during construction an asset.
  • Experience with pre design site review an asset.
