As a

Junior Settlement Worker - Welcome Desk/Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) Liaison

, you will be the first point of contact for IRSA clients, greeting, screening, directing and providing them with general information on IRSA programming while also fielding their inquiries. This role also coordinates client enrollment and participation in the LINC program, in support of language education and the integration of newcomer families into the community.

This role collaborates across departments to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote IRSA's vision, mission, and core values.

Responsibilities:



Provides a welcoming space for all clients entering IRSA premises, greeting individuals promptly, providing general information regarding IRSA programs, activities and events; referring clients to appropriate internal and external supports and services. Conducts initial needs assessment of new clients, providing direction on registering for IRSA programming and supports, collects necessary information and update the internal Client Management System (CMS) profiles with pertinent information and notes Coordinates all web-based client registrations, creating profiles in CMS, conducting initial screening and scheduling intake appointments with Newcomer Settlement, Employment Settlement and Youth Settlement teams as required. Acts as liaison between IRSA, our registered clients and language program service providers, including Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), the Canadian Language Benchmark Test (CLBPT), English as an Additional Language (EAL) and LINC Home Study (LHS). Organizes language assessments for IRSA clients, including booking, coordinating with assessors, notifying participants and documenting all language related activities in CMS and related reporting platforms. Maintains a professional office environment by ensuring adequate office and kitchen supplies are on hand, organizes incoming and outgoing mail for distribution, coordinates cleaning and janitorial supplies and services for office space, ensures waiting area is organized and appropriately stocked. Is committed to ongoing process review and improvement to further the efficiency of the above listed duties.

What You Bring



You have a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Office Administration, Business or a related discipline, with a minimum of 1-year experience in role, (or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience). Highly organized and detail focused with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities at once. Demonstrates a high level of empathy, coupled with a strong working knowledge of the challenges and issues facing newcomer populations, networks and support organizations. Demonstrates cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. An effective communicator in the English language, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to deliver information in a format that is clear, concise, organized and appropriate for it's intended audience. Proficient working with MS Office, various Social Media platforms, & Google Applications. Capable of developing and delivering content using each of the above platforms. Experience working with a Client Management System (CMS) would be considered an asset . Solid project management, presentation & public speaking skills would be considered an asset. Strong networking & relationship-building skills would be considered an asset. Ability to communicate in other languages would be considered an asset. Previous experience working in non-profit organization and/or non-government organization would be considered an asset.
