. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Research Scientist with accountabilities to the Principal Investigator.
The role requires working simultaneously on multiple ongoing research projects across multiple sites. The position will work closely with the other research coordinators, research scientist and principal investigator to support and fulfill the activities of the research lab. This position will aid with the recruitment of research participants in stroke recovery studies and clinical trials. Additionally, the position will provide technical support in the running of studies. Research projects involve a wide range of assessment and intervention tools including robotics, non-invasive brain stimulation, virtual reality, neuroimaging, medication, and clinical assessment and rehabilitation. The position will also provide administrative support in the lab through assistance in REB applications and regulatory documentation as required for a given project. The position will also support and follow the data management procedures in the lab.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Provide technical support in the laboratory (activities might include: setting up and running the robots, transcranial magnetic stimulation devices, transcranial direct current stimulation devices, treadmill, virtual reality, brain computer interface equipment, etc.)
Transporting patients between different lab locations
Obtaining informed consent, recruiting patients, and ensuring appropriate and timely follow-up for research studies
Perform data entry for studies and update databases and maintain confidential research data management
Ensure that data is handled carefully at all times including collect and maintain data logs
Work with Research Scientist/Research Coordinators to ensure appropriate data backup and transport to the data analysis laboratory performed daily
Provides recruitment/study updates to project stakeholders when necessary (e.g. PI, Research Scientist, Collaborators)
Keep office and work area clean and safe
Perform administrative tasks associated with research studies
Assist with Research Ethics Board (REB) applications and renewals, correspondence with REB
Keep electronic records of all study material including protocols, informed consent forms, questionnaires, renewals, modifications, etc.
Liaise with all research team members and sponsor/other collaborators
Reimbursement of subjects for parking/travel and recording of distributions of reimbursements
Other related duties as assigned
Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community
Manages own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree - Science, Psychology or related field.
Previous experience as a research assistant/coordinator (Minimum 1 year experience).
Background in clinical trials preferred
Knowledge of University policies including submission of projects to ethics boards
Ability to work simultaneously on different projects
Fluent in English; excellent communication skills
Computer literacy MS Windows, Word, Excel, MS Outlook and MS Access
Comfortable working with clinical populations
Strong leadership skills
