. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Research Manager, the primary purpose of the Junior Research Assistant & Administrator is to provide administrative support the dementia research team.
This role provides administrative support to the Principal Investigator and assists the dementia research team with a variety of research tasks. The Junior Research Assistant & Administrator will be required to demonstrate strong organizational and critical thinking skills; work collaboratively with the research team and other researchers; maintain a high level of confidentiality; and work independently in performance of day-to-day activities. This position requires the individual to have strong administrative skills and be able to work autonomously.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Work collaboratively with the dementia research team to support projects from start to finish, including data collection, data analysis, and final knowledge translation materials
Work respectfully with people living with dementia, Indigenous community partners, and health care partners to ensure inclusion of all voices in the completion of the research project
Collect qualitative data (i.e., talking circles and field notes) from talking circles to prepare draft analysis reports and manuscripts. Analyze data in collaboration with research manager
Assist the PI with all administrative tasks to keep projects on track
Manage own time and project tasks effectively. Demonstrate strong communication, team and interpersonal skills, and an ability to exercise judgment and take initiative to problem solve via conversation with team
Qualifications / Requirements:
Undergraduate in health-related field (i.e. nursing, health sciences) and/or experience in health care setting or health research in any of the following areas: Indigenous health, health services research, healthy policy or systems, health-related social science research and population/public health
A graduate degree in health sciences or a related field is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience and knowledge of administrative processes and procedures is required
Experience and knowledge of university research ethics procedures is required
Experience and knowledge of working with people living with dementia is required
Experience working with Indigenous communities, particularly engaging with community members and/or Elders and Knowledge Keepers, is preferred
Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred
Experience with qualitative analysis software (e.g. NVivo) is preferred
