Island Abbey Nutritionals provides full contract manufacturing, bottling, and packaging services for white-label production from concept to launch.

The junior purchaser will provide timely and cost-effective procurement, including value added sourcing and ordering of ingredients, materials, equipment and services by applying and adhering to best supply chain practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Review internal requests, prepare and release requests for quote (RFQ), and negotiate pricing with suppliers. Create purchase orders from approved suppliers in accordance with established process. Maintain purchase orders in the MRP system including updating promised delivery dates and any purchase order notes (i.e: delivery status, constraints, and risk). Develop supplier relationships to ensure all parts & materials meet the requirements of internal and external customers. Action discrepant, defective, or unacceptable products/services with Receiving Inspection, Receiving and Quality Assurance departments, end users, vendors and others to determine the source and root cause of the problem and action the necessary corrective / preventative actions as required. Action invoice discrepancies accurately and in a timely manner. Interface with key stakeholders in a pro-active manner to obtain and provide information, including procurement technical advice in support of overall operations. Recommend and implement cost reduction initiatives. Work within and promote Lean practices to meet departmental goals. Carry out special assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS



Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, supply chain, or logistics management or 1-3 years' experience in a similar role. Experience in a food manufacturing environment is considered an asset. Proficient working with warehouse management software as well as MRP and ERP software systems and O365 Embrace change and effective implementing within organization. Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and flexible to adjust to evolving business needs.

Sit for extended periods of time.

Be present in manufacturing environment which can be noisy, with varying temperatures.
