The Junior Prototyping Technician is responsible for supporting the development, assembly, and modification of physical prototypes and custom fabricated parts. This role involves hands-on work with tools, machinery, and materials to build and test components based on engineering specifications and design concepts. The technician works under the guidance of senior staff to assist in small-scale manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and general workshop operations. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn are essential to success in this role. We are looking for someone who has passion for the technology we are developing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and modification of prototypes, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering drawings or verbal instructions
Operate and maintain fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, welders and manual machine shop equipment (e.g., drill press, bandsaw, tablesaw)
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD files, and technical schematics
Perform hands-on assembly, soldering, sanding, welding and finishing work
Running plumbing lines, plastic tank modifications and wire pumps, valves, actuators
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to iterate and improve prototype designs
Maintain an organized, safe, and clean workshop environment
Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on prototypes and tools
Document work processes, updates, and build notes as required
Qualifications
Experience in general maintenance, construction, plumbing
1-2 years of relevant experience in a prototyping, fabrication, or mechanical assembly environment
Basic knowledge of mechanical tools, shop safety, and fabrication techniques
Basic electrical/electronics troubleshooting skills.
Preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Familiarity with 3D printing, CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360), or CNC operation is an asset
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on, physical tasks
Good communication and teamwork skills
