Who You Are

You have multidisciplinary experience with a well-rounded technical background in engineering and technical fields. You are a growing professional with exposure to coordination of technical resources, preferably in the design phase of projects. You have experience in project planning and delivery of engineering design projects of varying sizes. You are self-motivated and detail-oriented with previous experience in the industrial sector involving plants, facilities, and construction. The individual with the right fit for the role will share our core values, vision, and purpose with the intent of becoming a key member of the firm.

About The Role

As part of the Project Delivery team, the role involves leading multi-disciplinary projects through planning, tracking, and coordinating of resources, scope, and budgets, to successfully deliver to project stakeholders with oversight from other senior staff. As the multidisciplinary lead in a project, you will work with starting concepts and requirements and plan to realize them through the development of engineering and design tasks and activities, carried out by engineering leads and designers of each respective discipline while you ensure cohesive project delivery. In conjunction with senior project members, you will interface with clients to consult the client on their project objectives and utilize resources within the company and realize concepts & requirements through to execution. As a key and integral part of this position, you will ensure technical and scope accuracy is accomplished and that project objectives are met.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and develops project objectives with respect to regulatory requirements;
  • Develops project requirements with development of design concepts and ideas;
  • Manage client’s expectations with a clear understanding of the client’s technical, financial, and performance objectives;
  • Develops engineering scopes of work documents with specific design criteria to direct discipline engineers and designers to carry out project tasks;
  • Plans and coordinates project tasks, resources, and activities;
  • Substantiates designs and concepts through delivery and record of calculations;
  • Delegates and controls tasks and scope to engineers, designers, and sub-consultants;
  • Prepares project documents – project plans, scope documents, RFI’s, extra-scope forms, CWPs, and meeting minutes to project stakeholders;
  • Effectively communicates with the project manager(s), team members, clients, and other stakeholders at all stages of a project to identify and address problems and bottlenecks;
  • Controls quality and checks of deliverables and submittals;
  • Site visits to facilities and project sites required; and
  • Continuously steering the project plan based on ongoing requirements and findings, while making corrections as needed.

Your Knowledge and Skills

  • Well-rounded and diverse knowledge base in a variety of engineering and technical disciplines;
  • Familiarity with applicable code such as BCBC, ASHRAE, ASME, OHS, and other relevant code and standards;
  • Ability to function in multidisciplinary projects involving various disciplines;
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and provide supervision;
  • Strong understanding of scope, time, risk, and quality management;
  • Strong understanding and application of engineering codes, standards, and best practices;
  • Able to work and contribute individually and as part of a team, being a self-starter;
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure;
  • Service-oriented, client, and team focused;
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organization skills; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical, industrial, or facilities engineering;
  • Eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, working under the supervision of a professional engineer;
  • Must have a minimum 2 years of experience in consulting engineering or similar role;
  • Carry a Class 5 driver's license and own a vehicle;
  • Must have a passion for learning and understanding new industries and projects; and
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
