Description :
The Junior Mine Engineer goes underground on a weekly basis to survey face outlines mined previously, install survey controls, and check floor elevations for the Mine Department. Ventilation fans and duct into development areas are checked routinely and maps updated with any changes to air flow and fan locations.
Geological information is logged and mapped for future reference on a regular basis.
The incumbent works closely with the Sr. Geologist/Project Engineer and the General Mine Foreman to plan future production areas.
Air quality and ventilation requirements must be checked to achieve NO and CO levels within the standard TLV\'s.
Exhaust gas testing on the diesel powered mine vehicles is performed on a monthly basis as required by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour.
The mine surveying and ventilation information is plotted on mine maps and copies of the updated maps are issued every month to the Mine Department and other departments.
The Annual Report on Mining Operations is prepared by the Junior Mine Engineer for submission to the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources.
The Nova Scotia Department of Labour requires an annual report and mine maps of ventilation plans and mine communications and escapeways.
The incumbent provides planning and supervision of Mine and Surface projects and contracts as assigned.
Mine tours and inspections may be conducted by the incumbent with approval of the General Mine Foreman.
Monthly and as needed surface drone surveying.
When needed, supervise crews both in the mine and on surface.
Supervisor assigned duties.
