Objective of this Role



Northern Law LLP has an exciting opportunity for a motivated lawyer with one to three years of experience to fulfill a full-time role in a fast-paced office setting. The best fit for this permanent position is a results-oriented professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and a focus on civil litigation.

Responsibilities



Be involved in all aspects of civil litigation including drafting legal documents, including, but not limited to applications, briefs, pleadings, motions, affidavits, and discoveries.

Strategically counsel clients and potential clients on legal matters.

Identify legal or contractual issues and develop new approaches to resolve complex issues.

Argue motions and attend other pre-trial court appearances before a judge. Attend tribunal, court, or other adjudicated hearings.

Negotiate settlements of civil disputes.

Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.

Keep cases organized by meeting deadlines, documenting actions, and inputting information into a file database.

Prepare bills and correspondence.

Docket time daily.

Requirements



Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with exceptional academic credentials from an accredited law school

Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Positive attitude and high level of professionalism

Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgment.

One to three years of experience is preferred, but we will consider all qualified candidates.
