Junior Landscape Designer

Oakville, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

Location: Oakville, Ontario

Company: Tall Oaks Landscape Group

Why Join Tall Oaks Landscape Group?

Are you passionate about bringing creative outdoor spaces to life? At Tall Oaks Landscape Group, we're more than just a landscape company--we're a team dedicated to designing and building environments that enhance how people live, work, and connect with nature.

Joining our team means being part of a company that values craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous growth. As a Junior Landscape Designer, you'll contribute to inspiring residential and commercial projects while learning from experienced designers, builders, and project managers who are leaders in Ontario's landscape industry.

Why This Role is Different

This isn't about cookie-cutter designs or mass-produced plans. At Tall Oaks, every project is unique, reflecting our clients' lifestyles, tastes, and environments. You'll gain hands-on experience through the full design process--from client consultations to construction coordination--while being mentored to grow your design and technical skills.

You'll balance creativity with real-world application: helping to prepare design concepts, estimates, and working drawings, and collaborating closely with our construction teams to ensure every design becomes a beautiful, buildable reality.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We're looking for someone who is:

Creative and Passionate: You love design, plants, and the outdoors--and you bring enthusiasm to every project. Eager to Learn: You're developing your skills and want mentorship in both design and construction practices. Detail-Oriented: You can manage multiple tasks, keep organized project files, and meet deadlines. Collaborative: You enjoy working with others and thrive in a team environment. Technically Skilled: You have a solid foundation in design software and want to grow your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Assist senior designers with client consultations and site assessments. Support the development of creative, functional, and budget-conscious landscape designs. Prepare design drawings, renderings, and presentation materials using software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Dynascape. Help prepare estimates and project proposals. Maintain organized project files and assist with client communications. Participate in site visits during installation to learn about construction methods and ensure design intent is achieved. Collaborate with construction and maintenance teams to ensure seamless project delivery. Support the design team with other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: Diploma or degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related field. 1-2 years of experience in residential or commercial landscape design (co-op or internship experience welcome). Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Dynascape, Adobe Suite, or similar). Strong communication and organizational skills. Understanding of plant materials, grading, and Ontario construction practices is an asset. Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
