Join us and redefine your personal best.Your OpportunityWe are seeking a junior geoscientist to join the Hydrogeology Technical Team, based out of our Waterloo office.Your Key ResponsibilitiesAs a junior geoscientist, you would be involved in a variety of projects related to hydrogeologic assessments and groundwater supply development and testing. The core competencies for this position include:Energetic, team-oriented player with a commitment to high-quality and consistent resultsConfident individual who demonstrates strong initiative and is capable of independent action with the ability to make informed decisionsComfortable working outdoors in various conditions and able to lift /move items and equipment up to 50 lbsExcellent time management xe2x80x93 balancing immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlinesA valid G driverxe2x80x99s license is required.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsFollow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.Assist Project Managers in the implementation of various environmental projects.Complete field investigations on a variety of sites under the direction of senior staff including borehole drilling, well construction and testing oversight; groundwater and surface water sampling; water level monitoring; hydraulic conductivity testing; and infiltration testing.Assist with site characterization studies and follow-up reporting activities under the supervision of senior staff.Perform tasks, as requested, efficiently and accurately, using standard methods and techniques.Travel as required to various field sites with overnight travel required on occasion.Education and ExperiencePost-secondary educational background, ideally M.Sc., ideally specializing in Earth Science/Geology or related field.Eligibility of P.Geo. or P.Eng. in Ontario is considered an asset.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified employees and applicants for future and current employment and prohibit discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, genetic information, disability, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
