The Role
This position is for a junior geologist within our Canadian Exploration group based out of Saskatoon. The geologist will work in a collaborative environment and will participate and contribute to the planning and execution of exploration field programs. Our team has made a number of discoveries over our careers and we want to you to be part of making some with us. This role is a combination of office- and field-based work, with the office portion based in Saskatoon, and the field portion taking place in northern Saskatchewan on a rotational schedule during the winter and summer field seasons.
In the field, the main responsibilities are:
drill core logging and sampling
geological interpretation in 2d and 3d
collecting reflectance spectroscopy data
downhole probing of drill holes with geophysical tools
creating and digitizing cross sections/maps
spotting drill locations and trails
contractor management
safety inspections
and other field duties as assigned by the Project Geologist.
The office portion of the position will focus on geological compilation, geological interpretation, and reporting of geological data to advance our portfolio of exploration projects. In addition, there is opportunity to work on geoscience-focused initiatives as time permits throughout the year.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering
up to 4 years of relevant work experience
Be registered or willing to register with APEGS as a Geologist in Training or Professional Geologist
Capability and desire to work in remote locations for extended periods of time. Field rotations are generally between 2 and 4 weeks at a time
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
Willingness to work in a team environment
