Job Description

Our client, one of Canada\'s leading exporters of agriculture is looking to hire a Junior Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting teams across the globe, including transaction processing, financial reporting, and systems implementation.

Responsibilities of the Junior Financial Analyst include:

  • Perform daily/weekly cash flow projections and complex account reconciliations, enter and issue invoices, and update accounts receivable and payable.
  • Book standard, accrual, and adjusting journal entries to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial recording of all business transactions.
  • Assist with the month-end / year-end close process, including tracking progress and solving complex accounting issues as they arise to ensure meeting tight deadlines.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, including walkthroughs, supporting schedules, and follow-up questions.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the finance/accounting teams across Canada to provide guidance in the preparation of the financial reports for the entire group.
  • Assist with the identification and development of reporting and operational improvements, such as sophisticated monthly reporting packages, sales flash reports, budget variance reports, gap analysis, rolling forecasts, and consolidation reports.
  • Become a resource for ERP support.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements.
  • Prepare analysis (memorandums and financial analysis) on complex accounting transactions, including inventory valuation, foreign exchange translation, hedge accounting, financing, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations, as required.

Job Requirements:
  • Obtained a Bachelor\'s degree in the past 3 years or anticipate a Bachelor\'s degree in business/finance/accounting/math in June 2023.
  • Have a minimum average of 75% cumulative GPA.
  • Plan to pursue the Canadian CPA designation in the next 3 years.
  • Up to 2+ years of experience in general accounting, A/R, A/P, audit, financial analysis through Co-Op work terms.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in large companies is an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team - you\'ll be working closely with the corporate accounting/finance teams in Toronto and across Canada, various business operators including traders and logistics staff internationally, and customers and suppliers globally.
