Role Description

We are seeking a full-time, on-site Junior Estimator located in Calgary, AB. The Junior Estimator will prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing project proposals, reviewing blueprints, and collaborating with other departments. Additionally, the Estimator will monitor market trends to deliver competitive and reliable estimates for various project scopes.

Qualifications

Diploma, degree, or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

Previous experience with road construction projects and knowledge of materials and methods

Strong understanding of blueprint reading and project documentation analysis

Proficiency in using specialized estimation and project management software

Superior communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities:

Attend pre-tender meetings and job site reviews prior to preparing quotes. Sourcing project tenders, download documents, request sub-trade pricing, complete takeoff, and prepare estimate in a timely and efficient manner. Understand the scope of work when preparing estimates and tenders; request clarifications when needed. Ensure all proper documentation for tenders such as bonding, insurance, etc, is obtained in a timely manner prior to the closing date. Review estimates with Sr. Estimator and/or President 24 hours prior to tender closing. Assist PM's with the interpretation of contract, defining extra work and pricing to ensure overall success of the project. Supervise the accurate and timely execution of estimates/tenders achieving established award targets. Ensure each job has proper contractual agreements in place (i.e. indemnification agreement, permits, purchase order, etc.). Identify, and help in the sourcing of, unique job materials. Assist Project Managers to ensure planned project estimates are followed. Ensure maintenance of the estimating software Including labor rates, equipment, and materials.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
