Electrical Designer

to join our

Highway Road & Bridges

team in

Whitby, ON

. In this role you will be applying theory and principles of civil engineering in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities under the direction of engineering staff or physical scientists.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Personal Capability Building:

Develop and maintain excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.

Product and Solution Development:

Support others by carrying out simple product development or engineering tasks, such as gathering data or preparing documents. Involves following established procedures.

Solutions Analysis:

Assess compliance with established standards and protocols for routine inquiries.

Project Management:

Support project managers by performing simple tasks. Involves following established procedures.

Testing:

Perform a broad range of tests requiring detailed assessment, measurement, and judgment.

Plant and Machinery Maintenance and Repair:

Maintain and repair plant and machinery under close supervision to ensure that operational requirements are met, including conformance with regulatory and organizational health, safety, and environmental standards.

Equipment Installation:

Carry out standard installation activities under detailed guidance. Troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.

Data Collection and Analysis:

Extract relevant data from information provided by others, and input it into spreadsheets or standard formats.

Insights and Reporting:

Extract simple/automatic data in various forms (graphs, charts, etc.) to include in reports.

Work Scheduling and Allocation:

Organize own work schedule in order to get the job done, coordinating with support services and assigning short-term tasks to others if necessary.

What you will bring to the team:

Education

College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology G class driver's license

Experience

General Experience:

3-5 years' experience in the design and/or construction of highway electrical, lighting, Traffic Signals and ITS with an engineering consultant firm Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation environments Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
