Role Overview As a Junior Electrical Designer your role will include working on a variety of electrical design project under the mentorship of Intermediate and Senior Electrical team members. The position focuses on developing your electrical design knowledge within the building service industry completing relevant design calculations, coordination of electrical elements with other disciplines, and assist with preparing electrical design documentation. An overview of responsibilities is listed below. \xc2\xb7 Assist Senior and Intermediate staff to develop electrical systems designs for a variety of projects, including but not limited to life safety systems, lighting, lighting controls, building power distribution, and coordination with other disciplines. \xc2\xb7 Coordination of electrical elements with various disciplines, i.e. mechanical equipment, device locations, etc. \xc2\xb7 Performing and completing design calculations as required for various systems including electrical load calculations, lighting designs, etc. \xc2\xb7 Be responsible for drafting (AutoCAD) or modeling (Revit) electrical systems for projects under the supervision of Senior and Intermediate staff. \xc2\xb7 Gain experience, understanding, and knowledge of electrical systems design, applicable Codes, and other standards. Projects may include working on residential (low and high-rise), educational projects (public and private schools, post-secondary institutions), commercial projects (box stores, base buildings, etc.), institutional projects (public sector facilities), industrial facilities, retirement / long term care facilities, and a variety of other projects. Qualifications This position is intended for an individual that is nearing or has recently graduated from a college level electrical, architectural, or building-focused technology program. Prior co-op / job experience at an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset. All candidates should bring excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment. Further qualifications for this role include: \xc2\xb7 Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadline and deliverable dates while working on a number of ongoing projects. \xc2\xb7 Experience with AutoCAD and standard computer software. \xc2\xb7 Experience with AGI32, ElumTools, Revit, database knowledge, and Python and/or Visual Programming languages are an asset. \xc2\xb7 High levels of attention to detail, retention of design approaches, and ability to draw on past experiences and apply to current situations. \xc2\xb7 Ability to think both critically and analytically while applying problem solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
