Ready Engineering, a Shermco Company, is seeking a Junior Electrical and Controls Engineer.



JUNIOR ELECTRICAL AND CONTROLS ENGINEER
We are looking for electrical and control systems engineering professionals, with a bent for business, to join our team in Castlegar and work on an as needed basis. Responsibilities include electrical engineering design, control system design and implementation, commissioning coordination and management, and start-up support for heavy industrial and utility customers. Our projects come from a variety of industries, including biofuels, chemicals and fibers, mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, special waste management, and nuclear, fossil, green power generation, agri-food and municipal.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering related design, analysis, and studies for domestic and international projects.
  • DCS, SCADA, PLC and/or HMI programming.
  • Industrial Networking architecture and design
  • Troubleshooting controls programs and associated field devices.
  • Installation wiring for control and communication systems.
  • Commissioning testing of a wide variety of plant control equipment.
  • Control system functional and commissioning testing.
  • Maintain/clean up existing client software.
  • Conduct short-circuits, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies.
  • Design and troubleshoot protective relaying and controls.
  • Perform power factor analysis and correction, harmonic modeling and analysis, and grounding analysis.
  • Troubleshooting programs and field devices.
  • Installation wiring for electrical and electronic systems.
  • Commissioning testing of a wide variety of plant electrical equipment.
  • Protection system functional and commissioning testing.
  • Interact with customers to gather critical information and review engineering plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, or PSE designation.
  • Eligible for registration with EGBC as an Engineer-In-Training.
  • Understanding of control systems platforms.
  • Understanding of Network componentry, function and configuration.
  • Understanding of industrial/utility protection and relay system.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and work in the field alongside our engineers and field technicians.
  • Must be able to work safety and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean abstract as fieldwork will be a requirement of this position.

  • Deadline proficient and detail orientated with a high level of organizational skill.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to time manage tasks and work with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment and to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
  • Ability to work with and protect confidential and proprietary information.
  • Computer proficiency including but not limited to current versions of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Sales Force, and data-entry in a database system.
  • Knowledge of basic office etiquette and procedures.
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, organized, and systematic.
  • Knowledge of simple business practices, records management, and general administration.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, telephone systems, keyboards, copiers, and email.
  • Must be comfortable to make, receive and responds to numerous phone calls and emails each day.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
