Responsibilities

:

Participate in field surveys (e.g., terrestrial wildlife, vegetation, aquatic assessment, etc.) in support of baseline studies, environmental impact studies, natural environment monitoring and related scopes of work; Field data entry, management and analysis; Assist in preparation of technical reports and other deliverables, such as Species at Risk assessments and permitting, natural heritage significance evaluations, Environmental Impact Studies, and mitigation plans; Development of ecological restoration plans, in collaboration with senior ecologists and landscape design professionals, as part of ecosystem management and compensation strategies; Interpret and apply environmental policies and legislation at various government levels; Conduct work in accordance with company health, safety and sustainability policies; and Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:



University degree in Biology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or related discipline; 0-2 years of experience in a similar role (including co-op experience); General knowledge of the flora and fauna of Ontario; Familiarity with vegetation community classification (e.g. ELC) and wildlife habitat assessment; Experience with technical and scientific reporting; Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Outlook is essential; Experience with ArcGIS or AutoCAD is considered an asset; Ability to work in both field and office environments; Ability to work all weather conditions; Team player with the ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills; Knowledge of environmental policies and legislation (e.g., the Provincial Planning Statement, Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act, Fisheries Act*, municipal official plans, etc.) considered an asset;
Valid First Aid and CPR preferred; Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
