Description
Trafalgar Engineering has an immediate opening for the full-time position of a junior designer/Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Responsibilities are outlined in further detail below, but generally include the design of stormwater management facilities, storm and sanitary sewers, watermains, grading, and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses. Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of Functional Servicing and Stormwater Management Reports, stormwater management, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain designs.
Assist in the preparation of grading and servicing designs for land development projects.
Assist in the preparation of hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to support the preparation of Flood Studies utilizing HEC-RAS and SWMM.
Prepare supporting calculations and documentation.
Assist in the preparation of design drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
Assist in the preparation of submission packages to various agencies in support of approvals.
Assist in contract administration duties including the preparation of tender, contract, and related documents including payment certificates and progress reports.
Undertake earthworks calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and perform quantity takeoffs.
Assist in the preparation of Opinions of Probable Cost.
Assist in field review and monitoring to ensure conformity with the contract documents, plans, specifications, and regulations.
Assist in the preparation of construction record drawings based on field observations.
Set up and facilitate, or attend project meetings with clients, design staff, and/or municipal/agency approval staff, complete with the preparation and dissemination of minutes, notes, or memoranda.
Liaise with client, design staff, contractors, and/or municipal/agency approval staff.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering.
Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is required.
Must be proactive and eager to grow and develop in their engineering role.
Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
Highly organized with the ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Must be able to work in both an office environment and in the field with flexibility for construction hours as needed
Must possess a valid Class G Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract and have access to a vehicle.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
