What You'll Do
As a junior team member, you'll gain hands-on experience while supporting senior engineers and technologists. Expect to:
Assist with
PLC, HMI, and DCS programming
Support
control panel design and troubleshooting
Participate in
system testing and commissioning
Help prepare
technical documentation and reports
Travel occasionally for
on-site support and fieldwork
What You Bring
Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering
0-3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls
Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
Eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent
Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License
Valid Passport
Bonus: Exposure to AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN

$50,000 - $70,000 CAD per year
4% in lieu of benefits

Interview Process
Step 1: Application Review
Review cover letter and resume for relevant education, experience, and EGBC eligibility.
Shortlist candidates who meet baseline qualifications and show enthusiasm for automation and the Comox Valley lifestyle.
Step 2: Introductory Phone or Video Call (30 minutes)
Purpose:
Gauge communication skills and professionalism
Confirm interest in the role and availability
Clarify EGBC status and willingness to relocate for work hybrid
Step 3: Technical and Professional Interview (60 minutes)
Format:
Conducted via video or in-person
Mix of practical questions and scenario-based problem solving
Topics may include:
PLC/DCS fundamentals
Troubleshooting logic
Control panel design basics
Safety and commissioning protocols
Step 4: Team Fit & Culture Chat (30 minutes)
Purpose (optional):
Discuss work style, collaboration, and hybrid expectations

Step 5: Offer & Onboarding Discussion
If selected, candidate receives a formal offer
Follow-up call to discuss start date, onboarding plan, and hybrid work setup
