We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Junior Compounding & Materials Assistant to join our team on a contract basis. This role is vital for supporting our compounding operations, focusing on the accurate preparation of raw materials, maintaining exceptional cleanliness and organization, and upholding strict cGMP and GDP standards. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player, eager to learn, and committed to quality. This is a 3-month contract with a strong possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Scientific Affairs Officer, the Junior Compounding & Materials Assistant will be responsible for:
Compounding & Production Support:
Performing accurate pre-weighing of raw materials according to formula sheets using scales and other measuring equipment.
Assisting the Shipping/Receiving team with the handling and transfer of materials from quarantine to raw material storage areas.
Transferring completed batches to the production team as required.
Providing general assistance to the compounding team with various tasks under close supervision.
Cleaning and sanitizing tanks, equipment, and work areas according to established GMP and SOPs.
Calibrating equipment as per the scheduled maintenance program and maintaining associated logs.
Raw Material & Warehouse Management:
Maintaining the organization, safety, and GMP-compliance of all raw material storage areas.
Receiving and putting away raw materials, ensuring proper labeling and storage conditions are met.
Assisting in raw material inventory management by performing cycle counts and reporting low stock levels.
Documentation & Quality Compliance:
Maintaining all logs, SDS sheets, and raw material documentation in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and cGMP, under the supervision of the Quality team.
Accurately completing formula worksheets, tank log books, and sanitation records.
Assisting in the maintenance of Quality Management System documentation related to raw materials and compounding.
Working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations, and company safety policies, including the consistent use of required PPE.
Performing all other duties as assigned by the Scientific Affairs Officer.
Job Requirements:
A. Education and Training
Understanding of cGMP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) is required.
A college diploma or undergraduate degree in Cosmetic Science, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
Current Forklift and WHMIS certifications are strong assets.
B. Experience
1-2 years of experience in a cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical, or related GMP production environment is preferred.
We strongly encourage recent graduates to apply, as a combination of education and practical training will be considered.
C. Physical Requirements / Working Environment
Must be able to lift at least 60 lbs regularly and push/pull heavy loads (e.g., 500 lbs) using a hand pallet jack.
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and perform physical cleaning duties.
Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to various chemical raw materials and fragrances.
D. Other Skills Required

E. Hours & Contract Details
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend hours as requested.
Hours:
Up to 40 hours per week.
Term:
3-month contract with an excellent possibility of transition to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.
