SUMMARY

Responsible for the purchase of commodities, materials and services under the direction of the Supervisor to support Artaflex Inc's objectives and strategies in Supply chain and Purchasing.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Request Quotes from suppliers while engaging in negotiations for best price and lead time.

2. Supports production requirements for assigned commodities through effective procurement of materials as determined through the company ERP system.

3. Identifies and responds to the internal customer's needs proactively.

4. Assists in new product introduction, as appropriate including qualifying suitable suppliers, negotiating teaming, partnering or other such arrangements, negotiating start-up and/or production developmental costs and ensuring a smooth transition of the procurement process to a "full production" mode.

5. Understands the market and business conditions for the commodity(s) to keep abreast of changing trends in prices and availability of materials and services.

6. Works in a team environment with manufacturing engineering, quality and suppliers on improvements in quality, on time delivery and cycle time.

7. Undertaking other purchasing related duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.

Requirements

Post-secondary school completion in Business Management, Purchasing or equivalent experience. A minimum of two (2) years related experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment) or equivalent combination of education and experience Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Understanding of ERP utilizing JIT, Kan Ban, Syspro and Rapid Response Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently with minimum supervision. Applies knowledge of the company's business and customers as well as corporate policies and procedures Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work in a team based environment Works on assignments and resolves problems that are routine in nature by providing analysis/interpretation of the situation/data and reviewing relevant factors to determine an appropriate solution, applying judgment accordingly
