The Opportunity
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Bridge Technologist to join our growing Alberta Bridge Group in Calgary. This is an ideal opportunity for an entry-level Bridge Technologist who is eager to launch their career and grow alongside a team of experienced professionals. Our project portfolio includes bridge-sized culverts and standard bridges through to major interchanges and river crossings, including multiple award-winning projects in Alberta and British Columbia. An example is the Stoney Trail Bridge Twinning involving bridge construction engineering support for a segmentally-launched, balanced, cantilevered 470m-long bridge over the Bow River.

What You'll Do
Assist with inspections, assessments, and data collection for bridges and bridge-sized culverts.
Conduct hydrotechnical analyses of watercourse crossings and drainage basins using ATEC methodologies.
Support the development of conceptual and structural designs for bridge and culvert structures.
Prepare survey and design drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D in line with ATEC Drafting Guidelines.
Develop cost estimates and assist in preparing and securing approval of tender and contract documentation.
Coordinate with sub-consultants, stakeholders, and internal teams to support project delivery.
Conduct construction field reviews, review submittals, and support contract administration.
Contribute to project completion by preparing record drawings, final documentation, and ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
What You'll Bring
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Registered or eligible to immediately register with ASET as a Technologist in Training.
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Autodesk Revit and the SOFiSTiK add-on would be considered an asset).
Strong interest in accelerated career growth through diverse project work.
Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience in engineering consulting or the civil construction industry.
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
Experience with bridge design related to CAN/CSA S6, and its application to bridge projects across highway, rural road, and resource projects.
Knowledge and experience with hydrotechnical analysis in accordance with ATEC guidelines.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $70,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
