The Opportunity
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for junior engineer to join our Bridge team in Edmonton. This will be an entry level bridge engineering role based out of Edmonton and working with our growing Alberta Bridge Group. Our project portfolio includes bridge culverts and standard bridges through to major interchange and river crossings and includes multiple award-winning projects in BC and Alberta. An example is the Stoney Trail Bridge Twinning involving bridge construction engineering support for a segmentally-launched, balanced, cantilevered 470m-long bridge over the Bow River.

What You'll Do
Assist with bridge inspections, assessments, and data collection.
Support the development of conceptual and structural designs for various bridge types and transportation structures.
Conduct hydrotechnical analyses of watercourse crossings and corresponding drainage basins using approved ATEC methodologies.
Prepare design and contract cost estimates.
Coordinate with sub-consultants and stakeholders.
Assist in preparing and securing approval of tender and contract documents.
Support field reviews, construction submittals, and contract administration.
Collaborate with team members to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Assist in preparing record drawings and final documentation packages.
What You'll Bring
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. A post graduate M.Eng. or M.Sc. with structural specialization would be considered an asset.
Registered or eligible to immediately register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Alberta and British Columbia.
Knowledge & experience with bridge design related to CAN/CSA S6, and its application to bridge projects across highway, rural road, and resource projects would be considered an asset.
Experience in the application of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MIDAS and CSiBridge would be considered an asset.
Experience with bridge hydrotechnical analysis in accordance with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors guidelines is considered an asset.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
