Role Profile:

The Junior Branded Content Editor will work alongside Content Works editors in managing the ideation and execution of a range of commercial content campaigns in the Alberta market, including articles, videos, infographics and more. The Junior Editor brings demonstrated skills in journalism, social media and content marketing. Content Works is seeking a highly creative individual with a passion for digital storytelling and the desire to learn from, contribute to and collaborate with a dynamic team of branded content professionals. This is an entry-level position and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on local and national campaigns with some of Canada's most well-known brands in a variety of sectors.

The successful candidate can be based anywhere in Western Canada but must be available to work during Alberta working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute article, video, photo and infographic ideas that drive brand goals and user engagement for our clients;
  • Engage with clients to establish content objectives and manage approvals;
  • Understand each project's unique needs and effectively work with content creators to execute each facet of the campaign;
  • Ensure quality control of campaigns pre-launch;
  • Edit content and write headlines and copy for social posts promoting the articles;
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and an ability to multi-task;
  • Execute high-value content for multiple platforms in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or an equivalent;
  • Outstanding command of written and spoken English;
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills;
  • Minimum of one year of experience in content creation and/or digital marketing;
  • A track record of producing content that resonates with readers/users;
  • Basic knowledge of best practices and trends within the content marketing industry;
  • Basic knowledge of audience metrics and social amplification techniques;
  • Experience managing editorial calendars, multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Proficiency in all major business software applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel);
  • Excellent client service skills;
  • Professional demeanour and ability to work well under pressure;
  • A motivated team player and self-starter with superior communication skills and a strong desire to compete and succeed;
  • Knowledge of project management techniques is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of SEO and WordPress is an asset.
