Junior Automation Engineer



Starline Windows is a manufacturer and installer of high performance glazing systems designed specifically for all categories of residential and hospitality projects including new developments, renovations and restorations. We have been in business for over 50 years and have successfully completed glazing contracts for thousands of projects throughout Western North America, from California to British Columbia and Alberta. Our 460,000 ft2 manufacturing facility is located in South Surrey, where we have equipment from all over the world.

Position Summary



Starline Windows is constantly innovating, automating and improving our production process. You will be working with our machinery to keep production going. As you gain knowledge on our process and production you will be given more responsibility. Eventually working in a team with other Engineers on new automation projects and implementing new equipment. We are constantly innovating, automating and improving our production flow. Our automation team is young, dynamic and growing fast, making it an ideal environment for learning and growing a skill set.

Daily Tasks and Key Responsibilities



Basic troubleshooting of automated equipment with mechanical, pneumatic, electronics control and electric systems on different types of machinery. Execute programmed and corrective service and calibration of CNC machinery. Work closely and constant communication with production supervisors to program production and keep machinery running efficiently. Use of CAD-CAM software to generate and process production data for CNC machinery. Programming parametric macros for specialized CAM software. Teamwork and constant communication with Product Engineering and IT departments to find the best approach for solving product specs and data issues. Write, edit and maintain technical, operation, safety and servicing documentation, train operators as necessary to enable controlled implementation of new products and machinery into the production environment. Contribute to Machine Automation Team efforts by completing all tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor Available occasionally for service calls after hours and on weekends.

Qualifications and Skills



CNC Technologist, CAD technology, Automation Technician, or equivalent related. Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to details. Excellent communication and technical written skills. Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often. Excellent teamwork. Fast learning skills and mechanical systems understanding. Reading and understanding mechanical, pneumatic and electrical schematics. High proficiency using of Autodesk CAD software. Solidworks CAD software is also acceptable.

Valuable assets not mandatory



Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is an asset. Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset. Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC is an asset. Experience utilizing CAM Software is an asset. Experience in the development of production automation/robotics is an asset.

Job Offer



Full Time Salary Position (pay is competitive). 2 weeks vacation yearly. Eligible for Company Group Benefits after 3 months. Great environment for learning and growing a skill set. 6 months probation period.
We require all candidates to be legally allowed to work in Canada.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
