Small, general litigation firm in Oshawa, looking to add to their team. We are looking for a junior lawyer to assist with files and have carriage of their own files. Civil litigation or family law experience is preferred but not required. Experience in construction litigation, family law and/or insurance defence is ideal. Lawyers who have completed articling and have an interest in litigation are still encouraged to apply. Duties:
- Meeting and identifying clients, providing consultations;
- Reviewing documents (medical, commercial contracts, etc.);
- Legal drafting (pleadings, briefs, factums, etc.);
- Conducting/attending examination for discoveries;
- Attending mediations;
- Attending Superior Court (motions, Pre-Trial Conferences, trials, etc.)
- Attending Small Claims Court (settlement conferences, trial);
- Everyday file management (negotiating settlement, reporting to clients, etc.)
- French not required
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Bonus pay
- Oshawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
- Certificate of Standing (required)
