We are seeking a motivated Junior Associate Claims Counsel to join our Corporate Legal Claims Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a new law school graduate or early-career lawyer who is eager to develop foundational experience in title insurance and real estate claims, supported by mentorship and training from senior counsel and management.

Primary Responsibilities:



Investigating the facts and issues of a claim, including but not limited to communicating with title professionals, closing attorneys, lenders, claimants, and other counsel Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations as directed by senior counsel. Determining whether coverage exists and evaluating loss under the title policy Maintain accurate filing documentation and ensure compliance with internal claims-handling procedures. Negotiate settlements and resolutions with claimants, opposing counsels, and third parties Directing outside counsel on litigation strategy through the course of claim administration and litigation Managing the claim budget, reviewing and approving outside counsel invoices and other expenses, and determining settlement and expense reserves Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional and solution-focused approach.

Qualifications :



Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and advocacy skills Law degree and member (or eligibility for membership) with a Canadian Law Society (Ontario Preferred) 0-2 years of related experience in legal practice, claims, or Real Estate (law school or articling experience considered). Experience in evaluating construction estimates relating to remedying work done without a building permit, notices of deficiencies and/or work orders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to make decisions quickly and confidently Ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and time management skills Strong computer skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teraview, and 3rd party Conveyancing platforms
