We are currently seeking a
Junior Architectural Designer
who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills and be involved in meaningful projects from concept through construction.
Role Summary:
The
Junior Architectural Designer
will support the team in creating architectural concepts, drawings, and presentations under the guidance of senior staff. This role offers exposure to various stages of architectural projects, including design development, construction documentation, and site coordination. This role is carried out on site in our headquarters in Toronto.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Develop architectural drawings, renderings, and models using BIM tools and other software commonly used in the office.
Assist senior architects and technologists in translating design concepts into detailed construction drawings and specifications.
Collaborate within project teams to generate design ideas and contribute to creative problem-solving.
Conduct research on building materials, construction techniques, and codes to support design decisions and ensure compliance with regulations.
Coordinate and communicate with consultants and clients, incorporating feedback into design iterations.
Participate in client meetings and presentations, assisting in the preparation of visual and written materials.
Maintain organized and up-to-date project files, drawings, and records for efficient team access.
Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure alignment with design intent.
Track project milestones and support project leads in identifying and addressing potential risks.
Assist with the development of construction documents and technical specifications.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proficiency in
Revit
,
AutoCAD
,
Rhinoceros 3D
,
Adobe Creative Suite
, and other relevant design tools.
Solid understanding of the
Ontario Building Code (OBC)
and municipal regulations.
Minimum
2 years of experience
working on commercial and/or residential buildings, including site planning and layout.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills--both verbal and written--with the ability to clearly present design ideas and coordinate with clients, engineers, and contractors.
Demonstrated ability to identify challenges in design and construction and propose practical, creative solutions.
Highly organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Self-starter with a proactive mindset and a "go-getter" attitude.
Ability to take ownership of tasks and follow through independently.
