About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Surgical and Tertiary Care Services, you will provide application support to multi-user, mission critical, integration technology applications. You will research and analyze issues with existing applications and/or transactions, impact of upgrades, new releases, patches, etc. on individual and integrated applications. In addition, this role will monitor production integration technology systems to ensure optimal performance and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness.
You must be willing to participate in the on-call 24/7 support strategy. This requires a rotation of support analysts to be available to respond to priority emergency Priority 1 service disruptions after hours.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where responsibilities shift from day to day, but will primarily center on documenting business processes, gathering and refining requirements, and translating them into clear, actionable specifications. The ideal candidate will also manage or coordinate small to medium-sized projects and work closely with customers, vendors, and leadership to support strategic roadmaps and implement solutions that enhance healthcare across the province.
Typical daily duties
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following key duties:
Analyzing and implementing computer application code.
Investigate problems; determine solution options, make required code modifications, test, and implement changes.
Provide appropriate assistance to client inquiries.
Co-ordinate the allocation of programming resources to systems.
Develop computer applications of moderate to high complexity.
Support and maintain existing systems.
Collaborate with various technology departments to complete required maintenance.
What we are looking for?
The knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a Degree in Computer Science or related area of study. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. In addition to educational requirements, the successful candidate will have minimum 1 year of experience working within an integrated IT/Health support environment and supporting applications.
A strong technical background, facilitation skills and training experience.
Java Programming concepts, techniques and tools.
Database queries, concepts, theories and principles.
Requirement analysis and solution design techniques.
Service-level protocols, change management protocols, and version control systems.
Experience working with integrated, enterprise scaled systems is required, healthcare setting preferred.
Foundational knowledge of common Electronic Heath Record systems.
HL7 and/or FHIR principles is an asset.
Health sector related business knowledge is considered an asset.

Ability to create and or modify a sequence of computer instructions in order to compile, link, build and test computer executables that meet design requirements within established guidelines;
