Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Enrolment Research, Analytics and Insights, the Junior Analyst plays an integral role by providing critical analysis and interpretation of enrolment data for strategic and tactical planning within the Office of the Registrar (RO) at the University of Alberta. The Junior Analyst will be one of the key sources to work on complex enrolment data-relevant projects under the U of A's Integrated Enrolment Growth Plan (IEGP), this includes but may not limit to (1) enrolment forecasting at various levels, including model building, replication, maintenance, and enhancement, (2) forecasting visualization and dashboarding, (3) predictive analytics supporting, (4) ad hoc requests supporting. The Junior Analyst is expected to utilize their strong technical, analytical, coordination, and communication skills and will be closely guided and supported by the team.
Responsibilities:

  • Carefully read, study, and understand U of A's Integrated Enrolment Growth Plan and related material and products, including the enrolment forecasting tool, and the Data Insights Framework.
  • Replicating existing enrolment forecasting models and refreshing the forecasting model when new data becomes available.
  • Developing, building, implementing, modifying, and refining enrolment data-relevant products under the Integrated Enrolment Growth Plan, which require strong technical, analytical, coordination and communication skills.
  • Supporting Research and Enrolment Analysts to respond to data requests, reporting, and submissions.
  • Supporting Programmer Analysts to respond to SQL query-related requests or projects.
  • Supporting other advanced quantitative and qualitative research projects as necessary.
  • Collaborating with other teams and units to understand business contexts and data structure, which are critical to deliver high-quality data and analytical products.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, or a related fields with a strong focus on quantitative skills.
  • Trackable experience in completing quantitative data/research projects in either professional or academic environment.
  • Expertise in using statistical software such as Python, R, SAS, Tableau, SQL, etc.
  • Superior ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and be able to communicate complex data concepts through plain language.
  • Strong ability to analyze data, suggest recommendations and present results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management in balancing demands in a way that will ensure access to critical data, reports or analysis within strategic time limits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Experience in Machine Learning and predictive modelling.
  • At least one year related experience in a professional environment.
