We're looking for a
Junior Accountant
to join our expanding team and grow with us. This is an
on-site position
at our Stony Plain office.
You'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our organization! You will be responsible for various accounting tasks and your contributions will help us drive efficiency and accuracy in our financial reporting and management processes. What you'll do
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support decision-making
Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
Oversight of data entry and bookkeeping staff
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal controls
Utilize accounting software - QuickBooks or other.
Collaborate with senior accountants to interpret financial reports and provide insights on financial performance
Support tax preparation efforts and assist with regulatory reporting as needed
Review, approve, and process invoices and purchase orders
Oversee vendor accounts and maintain controls
Process
payroll
, print cheques, and issue payments
Provide support to ownership as needed
Take on additional responsibilities as they arise in a small business environment
Basic qualifications
Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles and financial concepts
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
Familiarity with accounting software
Minimum
3 years of QuickBooks experience
(QuickBooks Online preferred)
Diploma or degree in
Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude
Experience in
home building, construction, or related industry
an asset
Preferred qualifications
Experience or knowledge of non-profit accounting practices or governmental accounting principles
Familiarity with Securities law and corporate finance concepts
Exposure to payroll processing and auditing procedures
