Our Richmond position requires that you speak Mandarin or Cantonese and English. We will not accept any applicants for that position that do not speak Mandarin or Cantonese as Chinese customers are our primary customer base in that location.

With over 30 years of experience in the accounting industry, this accounting firm has been serving clients locally and internationally, offering a full range of audit, accounting, tax and business advisory services.
The Position
Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Junior Accountant provides professional and exceptional client service to clients.
You are detail-oriented with previous accounting and/or bookkeeping experience. You are familiar with tax, bookkeeping and client software and are keen to develop your accounting and technical skills.
You are not afraid to ask questions and able to resolve issues effectively. You enjoy working with clients and do what you can to ensure they are made a priority at every turn.
The successful candidate will have a high degree of professionalism and strong communication skills, have superior organizational skills with the ability to focus on multiple tasks and changing priorities; have a mature approach and confidence in dealing with a wide range of clients, staff, demonstrate initiative and be a valued team member.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping using Simply Accounting (Sage)/QuickBooks
- Personal and corporate tax returns preparation
- Compilation engagement preparation
- Document creation and maintenance using MS Word and Excel
- Communicating with clients
- Other office related duties as they may arise
Requirements
An undergraduate degree, possibly working towards an accounting designation
Minimum 2 years of related experience
Accounting and income tax knowledge
Familiarity with tax, bookkeeping and client software
A professional, courteous, and mature demeanor with excellent phone and e-mail etiquette
Have a positive attitude, be flexible and dependable
An intermediate to advanced proficiency in the MS Office suite of applications with the ability to adapt to new programs and processes
Ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively with multiple team members
Prioritization and time management skills to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines
High orientation to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Second language (Mandarin or Cantonese) is a plus (note: if you are applying for our Richmond location you must speak Mandarin or Cantonese as well as English).
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is dependent on relevant experience and qualifications. On successful completion of a 3-month probation period, the firm offers a competitive benefits package.
