Real Estate Brokerage - Conveyance Experience is a Plus
Overview
We are looking for a reliable and tech-savvy Accountant to manage the day-to-day operational bookkeeping for tech forward real estate brokerage with residential property management activity. This is a part-time contract role with flexibility suited for someone who learns quickly, understands accounting concepts, and is comfortable working independently within an automated, fast moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review and approve daily system-generated bank and trust account reconciliations.
Handle oversight of basic and mostly automated property bookkeeping tasks such as rent deposits, deposit returns, owner payouts, and posting routine entries. You will also be reconciling Trust Liability Ledgers and ensuring the accuracy of all system generated trust entries.
Manage general corporate accounting (AP, AR, expense posting, simple month-end items).
Process payroll using ADP with simple commission calculations.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Communicate with clients regarding invoice questions, clarifications, or discrepancies as needed.
Handle exceptions, discrepancies, or trust-account issues.
Assist with conveyancing tasks if experienced (asset but not required).
Support general office bookkeeping duties to keep financial operations moving smoothly.
Produce monthly financial statements and liaise with accounting firm on year end and trust audits.
Requirements
Accounting Degree
Bookkeeping experience (formal training and minimum of 2 years employment experience - property accounting is a big plus).
Savvy with accounting software and strong general tech skills.
Solid understanding of accounting concepts and follow structured workflows.
High attention to detail, especially when reviewing automated outputs.
Ability to work independently and manage recurring daily/weekly/monthly tasks without supervision.
Experience with property management bookkeeping or accounting is preferred but not required.
Conveyancing experience is an asset.

Someone who is smart, organized, tech-savvy and capable of managing consistent daily accounting tasks with minimal oversight. The work is straightforward, highly automated, and well-structured.
Hours:
This role is a part time contract position which could become a part time employment position for the right candidate. The role is Mon through Friday, but the hours can be flexible with a minimum of 3 days weekly in our Yaletown office. We can be flexible with the schedule as long as there is continuity and accountability with some tasks requiring daily attention.
