Role Description
We are looking for a highly organized and motivated Junior Accountant to support our day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for recent accounting graduates in university or professionals with up to 2 years of experience in the field who are working towards a CPA designation. You will play a key role in recording transactions, preparing financial documents, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards across multiple retail locations.
Role Responsibilities
Analyze and reconcile financial transactions across all retail locations and the central warehouse.
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS), and internal financial controls.
Review general ledger accounts and prepare accurate journal entries for period-end closings.
Lead the monthly close process and coordinate year-end audit preparation.
Conduct cost analysis related to tire inventory, warehousing, and distribution activities.
Oversee payroll accounting and ensure accurate remittance of statutory deductions and employer contributions.
Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports and recommend collection or payment strategies.
Collaborate with store and warehouse managers to develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Advise management on financial performance trends and recommend operational efficiencies.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
1-2 year of relevant accounting or finance experience (internships or co-op experience accepted)
Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a CPA designation (preferred)
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and journal entries
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with QuickBooks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
English language proficiency is required
Knowledge of tire sales market is considered an asset but not required
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
