Fort McKay Group of Companies LP is currently recruiting for an experienced and highly motivated Junior Accountant for Fort McKay Strategic Services LP- Finance Department. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Junior Accountant will use their accounting background and education to record journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and assisting in other financial reporting duties.

This is a temporary maternity replacement position with duration of approximately twelve (12) months, Monday to Friday, and will be located at the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP Corporate Office in the Fort McKay Industrial Park north of Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and enter journal entries to support the monthly close
  • Monthly analysis and reconciliation of various balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Prepare of the monthly bank reconciliations, analysis of intercompany accounts and loans
  • Work with project schedules, budgets and timelines
  • Generate accurate and timely daily, weekly and monthly financial reports
  • Assist in the management and control of all fixed asset records including, but not limited to additions, deletions, depreciation and related loans and leases
  • Review and post invoice batches
  • Record and update prepaid asset schedule
Skills and Qualifications Required:
  • Post- secondary education in Business or Accounting along with a minimum of five (5) years relatable experience is considered.
  • Involvement in ERP software implementations is considered as an asset.
  • Proficiency in various competencies, such as strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (verbal/ written), organizational skills, multi- tasking and the ability to set and reset priorities
  • Must be flexible and work effectively in a fast paced environment
  • High proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of either Sage 300, Sage 500, or Sage ACCPAC, would consider an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Working Conditions

No exposure to safety hazards as the work environment is relatively free of hazards and there are no physically demanding aspects of the job.
