Position Summary
The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations of Stacked Franchising Ltd.'s head office and various other affiliates. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, processing transactions, and assisting with reporting. Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Financial Recordkeeping
Record and maintain day-to-day financial transactions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
Post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
Proactively seek out and anticipate any required financial information.
Maintain monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
Ensure proper coding of expenses and revenue across multiple corporate and franchise locations.
Reconciliations & Reporting
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Perform various semi annual and annual revenue reconciliations.
Assist with preparation of internal monthly and quarterly financial statements and other financial reports.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Support external annual compilation engagement and review engagement financial statements.
Accounts Payable / Receivable
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment according to company policies.
Prepare EFT transfer files.
Monitor AR collections and follow up on outstanding balances.
Communicate with vendors, franchisees, and internal departments to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
Franchise & Corporate Support
Support accounting functions related to franchise locations, including royalty fee tracking and franchisor billings.
Assimilate and analyze franchisee financial statements.
Assist with analysis of franchise sales reports for accuracy and compliance.
Provide financial data support for new store openings and head office operations.
Payroll & Government Compliance
Prepare and reconcile monthly GST/HST reporting.
Prepare and reconcile bi-weekly payroll and remittances.
Assist in the preparation of employee T4's and Records of Employment.
Prepare and reconcile provincial WCB reporting.
Process employee reimbursements and allowances.
Process Improvement
Identify and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure financial data integrity at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1-2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role (corporate sector preferred).
Working toward a CPA designation considered an asset.
Familiarity with GAAP and ASPE.
Proficiency in understanding financial statements.
Proficiency in financial analysis.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and specifically Microsoft Excel.
Must be proficient in QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP system.
Ability to work and research compliance requirements independently.
Experience with POS data exports and multi-location financial reporting considered an asset.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work around fixed reporting deadlines.
