In this role, you will:
  • Gain knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic systems supporting Victoria Class Submarines
  • Gain knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic system commissioning processes
  • Review technical documentation to generate testing instructions
  • Work within a diverse team to carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
  • Record defects and maintenance activities using Babcock Canada IT applications
  • Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance
The ideal candidate brings:
  • A Diploma of Technology or equivalent education and experience that would qualify for AScT or CET certification
  • An understanding of the following:
  • Provincial safety regulations for Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Access
  • Internal and external tank pressure testing is an asset, including large volume hydrostatic testing
  • Material fitness inspections, lifting appliance certification and strength testing of fixed components such as eye plates, bollards, capstans
  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems as well as water cooling systems.
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems including pressurized storage cylinders
  • Diesel engine theory
  • Bulk liquid storage
  • Direct Current control systems / motor control / power generation
  • Alternating Current systems and power distribution control systems
  • Experience with fibre optic applications, cable characteristics, connectors, termination
  • Uninterrupted power supplies and switching equipment
  • Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience
  • New construction commissioning or retro-commissioning
  • Eligibility for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
