Position Scope

As a Jr. Project Engineer, you will support the effective execution of the Management of Change (MoC) programme for the Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre (CEIC) to ensure modifications to process plant equipment follow the required steps of design, procurement, safety reviews, installation, and commissioning. You will collaborate with the MoC Supervisor, plant engineers, and tradespeople to administer the above. Implementing improvements to the programme workflow, templates, and training of staff on these improvements will also be included in the scope of this position as time permits. This role may also be involved in supporting the development of capital projects in the CEIC and developing technical engineering deliverables to expedite specific projects.

Technical
Responsible for tracking multiple small to medium sized projects at the Carbon Engineering Innovation Center to ensure Change Management Process is being followed.
Collect project status update information and produce reports for upper management.
Attending design review meetings as the Management of Change delegate to ensure all required steps (e.g. safety reviews) are complete and the project is approved for implementation.
Resource and budget tracking summary for all active and upcoming projects to present to upper management.
Collaborate with the Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to identify bottlenecks areas that could be improved in the process and work with your supervisor to determine potential solutions to improve specific areas.
Owner of the MS Excel Management of Change Tracker.
Support the transition of the Management of Change system from Windows Explorer database to MS SharePoint.
As time permits, produce technical engineering deliverables (drawings, work plans, calculations, installation inspections) under guidance of Project Leads to expedite projects.
Coordinate with the Project Controls on peer review of work packages, QC closeout documentation, project close-out sign-off, and assist document record keeping/administration.
Safety
Demonstrate a positive safety culture.
Maintain the Innovation Centre in a safe condition in line with all applicable regulations.
Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
Complete training curriculum on Bridge system.

Leadership
Good communication and note taking skills.
Develop training material and run training sessions for new hires as well as re-fresher training as required.
Facilitating update meetings with project leads.
Providing input into programme improvements based on feedback from end users.
Education and Experience

Education

BSc. in Mechanical, Chemical, Process Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Experience

1-2 years of engineering experience
Project management support experience including project controls, scheduling, cost estimating, baseline schedule and budget tracking, reporting and procurement services.
Willing to attend meeting facilitation and communication training to develop skills in this area will be key.
Experience in industrial, oil & gas, and/or chemical plant setting desired but not necessary.
Comfortable in industrial/chemical plant environment.

Key Competencies

Experience with MS Excel.
Strong written communication skills.
