Jr. Door Machinist / Lumberyard Material Handler

Job Description

Reporting to the Door Shop Lead, the Door Shop Support will work primarily in the door shop and is a critical member of the door shop team. Assisting with the preparation and assembly of doors according to specifications, this entry level position is designed for individuals who are building their technical skills and knowledge of woodworking and door machining. The Door Shop Support role will operate basic equipment, maintain a safe work environment and support the production team to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met. From time to time the successful candidate will also support the lumber yard team as a material handler responsible for the efficient movement and storage of materials within lumber yard.

Candidates with door machining, a forklift ticket and/or, lumberyard experience will be preferred.

THE HUSTLE ENVIRONMENT

Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week Occasional overtime may be required Working mostly indoors in a controlled environment however, also outside in all weather conditions along with exposure to dust, dirt and other outside elements Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required Lots of standing/walking Bending, twisting, squatting and reaching Moderate work volume Operating forklift to move material Supportive team environment Career development Work/life balance

THESE ARE YOUR STRENGTHS:

Must be able to accurately read a measuring tape Assist in cutting parts required for door assembly Set up and operate saws, drills and other tools and equipment required for door preparation Knowledge in preparing basic machining tasks such as hinge pocketing, lock prep and other cut outs Maintain a clean and organized work area Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, reporting issues promptly Support senior machinists with daily tasks Follow all company safety policies Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs safely Participate in training and development opportunities to progress to more advanced machinist responsibilities Build lumber packages Yard maintenance/cleanliness Sweeping/picking up yard waste Participates and/or leads regular scheduled safety meetings Support a psychologically safe working environment
SUCCESS FACTORS:

Priority will be given to experienced door machinists and or, lumber yard material handlers

withrough terrain forklift Candidates with experience/knowledge of our industry will be preferred High school diploma or, equivalent Competent knowledge of OH&S safe work procedures Able to confidently read a tape measure Construction knowledge, home/commercial construction knowledge is a valuable asset in this role Manual dexterity and ability to handle woodworking tools and machinery safely Tolerance for manufacturing environment (noise, dust, repetitive tasks) Positive attitude, team player, willingness to learn Professional, courteous and punctual with a focus on customer service Detail orientated, self motivated and resourceful Ability to prioritize and manage time constraints Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle occasional pressure of shifting priorities and challenges in a dynamic business environment Good physical fitness and endurance

GROWTH PATH

This role is designed to provide training ad hands-on experience for advancement to a Door Machinist position as skills, knowledge and experience grow.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
