Athletes from Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Slovenia, and Chile have competed in 13 of the 15 sports at the Winter Olympic Games.
These athletes and teams are also involved in Karbon\xe2\x80\x99s ongoing research and product development, giving invaluable feedback, which is then incorporated into future collections. JR. Designer DESCRIPTION: Seeking an exceptional individual with a passion for active sports to work as a Jr. Designer at our head office in Concord, ON. This is a contract full time position with the opportunity for permanent. Working in collaboration with other departments, this position plays a vital role in the success of development of products for existing markets as well as extending the brand into new market sectors. Technical background, involvement in teamwork and communications is key to success in this position with the brand\'s objective of delivering the best possible garment to market. Reporting to the Sr. Product Design and Development Manager, the following are the general roles and responsibilities of the Jr. Designer but not limited to: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: - Assist with communicating style details through tech packs, technical flat sketches and seasonal colour coordinating for Sales Sample development - Assist with Measuring/ Reviewing Proto, Sales, Pre-production samples & make comment notes accordingly to design, fit and workmanship quality specifications. - Assist with colourway sketch colouring and seasonal presentation material set-up - Maintenance and updates on CMYK & colourway sketches library for cross-functional purposes - Assist with process of SMS/ Production ordering to ensure that Colourway files are consistent with order - Maintain and update Karbon Standards Manual - Participate in product development meetings as required FABRIC & FINDING DEVELOPMENT: - Order Lab Dips and Findings as required - Maintain and update Lab Dip/ Findings Approval files and binders - Maintain Fabric Specs file - Ensure that fabric suppliers have all necessary information/ swatches for running correct colours in sales sample yardage and production yardage - Ensure that head office receives sales sample yardage and production yardage hangers in all colours in all fabrics - Set up Fabric swatch presentation material as required SUPPLIER/VENDOR COMMUNICATION: - Communicate with suppliers/ vendors and ensure timely delivery of ALL samples, including but not limited to prototype, sales samples, pre-production samples etc. - Follow up with suppliers throughout development process to ensure timely delivery of lab dips, samples, findings, fabrics, etc. - Maintain catalogue of fabrics & trims, including setting part codes, and organization of specimen QUALITY CONTROL: - Assist with the quality of samples, pre-production samples, fit samples, trims/findings - Update General Notes and Spec Packages w/ quality issues, or standard changes - Investigate all quality issues as brought up by sales, management, customer service - Follow up and communicate with Production Manager and suppliers on quality issues and work towards resolution (request test results or update technical information as required) OFFICE MAINTENANCE: - Maintain Style files/ Sample racks/ binders/ catalogue library/ Karbon Fabric library/ Supplier Fabric library/ Trim library OTHER DUTIES AND PROJECTS MAY BE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - 4th year student or graduate: College/University education in Apparel Manufacturing/Engineering, Design, or related field - Strong technical knowledge in colours, garment construction, fit evaluation, and fabric/trims property for product manufacturing - Strong computer skills in a MAC environment, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft office applications - Self-starter who follows instructions well - Ability to follow through on multi-tasks and prioritize. - Creative thinker with excellent problem solving skills - Excellent organizational, time management, communication skills - Strong Team player attitude, with willingness to accept and provide feedback - Extremely detailed and goal oriented - Responsible, dependable and approachable with a positive attitude - Past experience with offshore development, manufacturing and direct factory communications would be an asset - Involvement in winter sport activities that utilize our products NOTE: Only those applicants under consideration will be contacted.
