Position Overview
As a Junior Superintendent working in our construction department, you will work closely with the project management staff and provide assistance on a range of construction management services on site throughout the construction phase, and post construction phase. As a Junior Superintendent at Spire Construction you will be required to be knowledgeable in different types of construction and able to analyze items from multiple perspectives. As a member of the construction department your ability to work cohesively with your team.
Spire Construction is actively involved in projects for commercial, light industrial, and multi-family construction up to $100 million.

Qualifications & Competencies
Education
Min post-Secondary Education Technical Diploma, Trade Journeyman background, or On-site Experience as an Assistant Superintendent or similar role.
Working knowledge of construction drawings, documents, and specifications.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of Assistant Superintendent experience in construction or similar role.
Experience managing construction projects in Institutional, commercial, or residential.
Technical Skills:
Assisting Supervision of construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, and specifications.
Technologically capable in Microsoft Office applications including Project, Excel, Word & Outlook.
Eager to learn construction management software such as Sitemax or similar.
Eager to assist with accurate and complete review of drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFI's.
Provide feedback on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
Review, provide input, and manage the general conditions budget on site. Control and monitor labour, material, and equipment expenses.
Have confidence in own ability to proficiently communicate with design team/client as well as effectively lead the trades.
Assist with Contacting, scheduling, and coordinating all subcontractors, suppliers, and utilities.
Assist with Monitor, maintain, and provide feedback to project manager on project construction schedule on a weekly basis.
Inform project team of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant's design drawings and specifications.
Oversee the Health and Safety program on site and ensure that the requirements of WorkSafe BC and the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced.
Maintain and enforce a high level of construction standard and quality control.
Coordinate all required testing, municipal inspections, and consultant inspections.
Assist in Preparing and expediting project deficiency lists.
Maintain a neat and tidy site office, first aid facility, and meeting room.
Record meeting minutes for weekly sub trade meetings.
Experience in reviewing subcontract and purchase agreements and ability to verify if additional claims are legitimate.
