The Opportunity



We're looking for a Junior Actuarial Analyst to join our team, reporting directly to the VP, Actuarial. This role will support key actuarial tasks aimed at improving efficiency and accelerating project delivery. The primary focus will be on reserving and data analytics, with opportunities to contribute to other actuarial areas such as pricing, capital modeling, and reinsurance.

What You'll Be Doing



Active participation in the reserving process under the supervision of VP Actuary: data manipulation and preparation, data ingestion of reserving specialized software, reserve analysis, reserve documentation preparation, reserving outputs. Supporting on building and updating automated Actuarial Review/Evaluation of programs, products and Lines of business. Data preparation to support several key actions: data lake, Appointed Actuarial Report, Financial Condition Testing, Reinsurance, etc Support in preparing key metrics for management reports including key performance and key risk indicators. Participation in updating rates and raters, including implementation of them in the system (including participating in testing phases).

You're an analytical thinker with a passion for turning data into insight. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to actuarial projects that span reserving, data analytics, and beyond. You're comfortable working with complex datasets, collaborating across teams, and adapting quickly to shifting priorities. You take initiative in streamlining processes and are excited by opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact in a dynamic actuarial setting.

You bring:

An Undergraduate Degree in Actuarial, Statistics or Mathematics 1 year of relevant and progressive experience in the area of Actuarial and/or P&C Insurance Exams from CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) and/or CIA (Canadian Institute of Actuaries). Other actuarial society exams might be accepted, but on a case-by-case. Strong Excel and Office Suite skills Data manipulation and basic analytical capabilities Basics from any one of the following programming languages: VBA, R, Python, SQL. Basics from any one of the following dashboarding/data visualization software: Power BI, Snowflake, Tableau. Basics of insurance pricing and reserving Basics of finance and accounting Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required; fluency in French preferred but not required.
