The Facilities team is comprised of over 300 trades personnel and service workers that provide trusted services and stewardship in support of teaching, learning, and discovery. This team is responsible for operations, maintenance, service, utilities distribution, and customer support. The Facilities Team Charter describes the purpose, vision, and values that in turn support the campus community.
Primary Purpose: To maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install steam, condensate, chilled water, heating, and related distribution systems in support of safe and reliable campus operations.
Nature of Work: Reporting to an Assistant Manager, Facilities, this role works in a multi-trade environment, indoors and outdoors, under varied conditions. The work involves moderate to heavy physical labour, use of ladders and lifts, and tasks in confined spaces, crawlspaces, and construction zones. Temperatures, noise levels, and lighting can vary significantly. Hazards may include asbestos, lead, silica, volatile organic compounds, and other regulated materials; full compliance with safety procedures and personal protective equipment (including respiratory protection requiring a clean-shaven face) is mandatory. This position participates in a rotational on-call schedule and may have shift changes based on operational needs.
