Position Scope

NACG is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Medium Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic and industry leading organization. Upon hire, you will be eligible for a $7,500 Attraction Bonus and our long-term service awards which are made in yearly payments. The sooner you start the more you earn!!

Looking to build your career? You can earn up to $60.38 per hour (includes base rate, Living Out Allowance, pension, training, vacation and general holiday pay, tool allowance and health and wellness - benefits, dental and disability). Successful candidates will also receive $225.00 per year of Boot Allowance.

Site: Kearl

Schedule: 14x14 (Days and nights)

Accommodations: Camp provided

Transportation: Flights provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary

Overtime: Currently at Kearl they have blended rates with no overtime

Daily Attraction Bonus: Kearl is offering a daily attraction bonus for days worked at $85/day

Kearl Advantage: Kearl is offering a travel allowance per rotation. Amount determined based on location. Travel allowances will be paid to/from location.

The successful candidate will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

NACG also offers an Employee Referral Program, an employee may be eligible to receive a referral bonus if he / she refers an eligible candidate for a posted Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) position in the Acheson Shop and/or Fort McMurray area with NACG. Each successful referral will result in a payment of $2,500.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all light vehicles
  • Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Trouble shooting systems to determine faults and extent of repair
  • Overhauls on vehicles as required
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Develop work scopes and schedules for vehicles to be repaired
  • Order parts for the servicing, and rebuild of vehicles as required
  • Assist Foreman in day to day operations
  • Fill in when foreman is away if designated lead
  • Complete reports and fill out work orders when required
  • Teach and evaluate apprentices
  • Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • A creative approach to problem solving; adaptability and flexibility
  • Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team with other tradespersons
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • 5 years on the job experience to complement Apprenticeship training program
  • Completion of secondary school
  • Completion Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Program apprenticeship
  • First Aid
  • Ongoing supervisory training as required
PREVIOUS MINING EXPERIENCE PREFERED. SELF STARTER, REQUIRING MINIMAL SUPERVISION.

Summary

All successful candidates must: * Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  • Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Vision Screening
  • Criminal Record Check
Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date: * CSO or BSO Certification
  • Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Copy of recent Driver's Abstract
  • VOID cheque/direct deposit form
Once dispatched the following processes will occur: * Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
  • An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
  • After all results are received by NACG candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site specific details.
