Position Summary:
VDM Trucking Service Ltd. is currently seeking a Journeyman Welder to join our maintenance team. This role involves performing minor welding repairs and maintenance on rig-moving trailers, highway trucks, and off-road oilfield equipment. The successful candidate will work alongside two apprentice welders in a well-equipped maintenance shop, focusing on preventive maintenance and ensuring equipment readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform general welding tasks, including crack repairs, patching, bracket installation, and light fabrication on oilfield trailers, trucks, and equipment. Support day-to-day maintenance by completing small welding jobs that help keep our rig-moving and heavy-haul fleet safe and operational. Use MIG, stick, and other basic welding processes as required. Assist in diagnosing structural issues and identifying safe, effective repair solutions. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all company and industry safety protocols. Provide support and informal mentorship to welding apprentices in the shop. Complete maintenance work orders and ensure proper documentation of repairs and materials used.
Qualifications:

Journeyman Welder Certification (Red Seal or provincial equivalent) Previous experience welding in a trucking, oilfield, or heavy equipment environment Comfortable working with trailers, trucks, and off-road gear Strong understanding of shop safety practices and oilfield maintenance culture Ability to interpret work orders and communicate clearly with the maintenance team
Preferred Assets:

Experience working in a transportation or oilfield trucking setting Familiarity with CVIP repair requirements and rig-moving equipment Ability to operate forklifts or service trucks (tickets an asset)
Working Conditions:

Shop-based position with occasional outdoor work as needed PPE provided; steel-toe boots and safety compliance required Monday to Friday, full-time hours with potential overtime during busy periods

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
