Journeyman Painter/Utility Person
Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in PEI, Lethbridge AB, and Jamestown ND. Head quarter in Dieppe, NB, the company always operates an appetizer plant in Wheatley, ON and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.
Job Summary: Employee will be repairing small structural damages and painting both indoors and outdoors depending on the needs of the business. He will also be helping when time allows with bringing things from the warehouse to the plant and visa versa. Weekly/Monthly facilities internal and external inspections.
Relationships and Contacts: This position reports to the Facilities Manager and interacts with all Cavendish employees
Major Responsibilities:

• Painting indoors based on business needs / manager directions
• Painting outdoors based on business needs/ manager directions
• Repairing damaged posts and floors
• Facilities Inspections
• Report food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to initiate actions.
• Commitment to Quality System Policy

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

• Using or wearing the protective equipment designated by the accident prevention policy
• Follow safe work procedures
• Reporting immediately to their supervisor any unsafe conditions or acts
• Reporting all accidents or injuries to your supervisor immediately

Food Safety Responsibilities:

• Follow good manufacturing practices and HACCP rules.
• Participate in food safety and quality programs of the facility within the specific role
• Reporting of food safety, food security, quality, and pest control concerns to the immediate supervisor and action within the role
• Participate in sanitation activities

Qualifications and Abilities:

• Post-secondary education with a trade certificate in preferably in one of the following: Painter and decorator trade
• Able to work weekends
• Able to work well with minimal supervision and alone for extended periods
• Ability to develop positive working relationships with other employees
• Attention to detail
• Willingness to learn
• Reliable and a team player
• Work in a safe and efficient manner
• Follow personal hygiene rules
• Painting experience is considered an asset

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of standing for 8 hours
• Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, use ladders, climb stairs
• Occasional lifting up to 50lb/ 23kg
• Occasional pushing up to 50lbs/23kg
• Occasional carrying up to 50lbs/23kg
• Ability to work in cold environments
