Journeyman Millwright

Job Description

Big White Ski Resort is currently accepting applications for Millwrights. Millwrights are involved in almost every aspect of Outdoor Operations. This is a full-time, year-round, long-term permanent position. In the winter, the Millwrights perform scheduled maintenance to the lifts, snowcats and snowmobiles as required. They are responsible for helping to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the ski lifts and snowcats. They also assist other departments regularly with transport and logistics. Millwrights are the first people out on the mountain in the morning and the last ones off the hill in the evening. In the off-season, the Millwrights perform scheduled summer maintenance to the ski lifts, as well as special projects such as new lift installations, rope replacements and splicing. Duties and responsibilities include:




Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing ski lifts Completing work orders and documenting all maintenance Conducting pre-operational checks and startups Supervising and/or assisting all Outdoor Operations staff Troubleshooting and repairing vehicles and equipment Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment Fabricating assemblies Maintaining and cleaning lift stations and the maintenance shop Maintaining various stationary machines and tools Operating, maintaining and repairing snowmobiles Operating forklifts and other heavy equipment Communicating effectively with all departments regarding maintenance Working cooperatively as a member of the maintenance team to ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times Complying with all department and company policies and procedures Performing other tasks as assigned by management Upholding the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times

Position requirements/skills:




Trades Certification or Apprenticeship Lift 151, 152, 153 courses Drivers license Experience in hydraulic and hydrostatic systems Experience in low voltage controls Experience in rigging and hoisting Proficiency in welding and cutting Self motivated, ability to work well with minimum supervision Mechanical aptitude Excellent guest service skills Excellent organization, time management and communication skills Must have a high level of attention to detail Work well within a diverse team environment Flexible availability including evenings, early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays

Physical demands:




Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for the duration of the shift Ability to work at heights Ability to work in cold and harsh environments Ability to lift and carry 35kg at times Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill duties Requires grasping, tool use, writing, standing, sitting, driving, shoveling, repetitive motions, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity
