We're seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Joiner to join our team and help bring our architectural millwork projects to life. This role is ideal for an experienced woodworker and cabinetmaker who takes pride in craftsmanship and can consistently deliver high-quality results.
The role primarily involves skilled machining and assembly of custom millwork, cabinets, and other millwork projects in our shop. Ideal candidates will have good tool skills, excellent work habits, and a keen eye for detail.
This is a full-time position offering fair compensation, benefits, and the chance to work on a wide variety of custom projects.
Our shop is centrally located downtown Langford and we start early enough that traffic is a breeze.
Responsibilities
Machining & Assembly
: Interpret shop drawings and accurately operate equipment to assemble cabinets and custom millwork with precision and efficiency, following project specifications.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet design standards and quality expectations.
Tool Operation:
Safely and skillfully use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment.
Material Handling:
Manage and prepare materials for assembly, including cutting and fitting components as required.
Workplace Safety:
Adhere to all shop safety protocols, including proper handling of materials and tools.
Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with shop foreman and other team members to ensure smooth workflows and project completion.
Workstation Hygiene:
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are stored properly.
Required Skills
Detail-Oriented
: Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality craftsmanship.
Tool Proficiency:
Good understanding of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
Physical Capability:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely and perform tasks requiring physical stamina.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all workplace safety standards and job site protocols.
Multi-Unit Familiarity:
Experience working with metric and imperial measurements.
Required Experience
Red Seal/Journeyman ticket or comparable experience
At least 5 years of experience in cabinetry and millwork fabrication
Forklift and/or first aid/WHIMS training would be a bonus
Qualities to be successful
