Job Description

Our Custom Van Builders are responsible for the construction, installation, finishing, quality assurance, and functional testing of components and equipment installed in our Wilderness Vans and GRID Trucks.

This position requires a

Journeyman Carpenter

who specializes in finishing carpentry/cabinetry, has a strong knowledge of general construction practices, and also broad mechanical, electrical, and plumbing knowledge and experience. It is imperative that our builders be self-directed and able to meet scheduled deadlines consistently while turning out quality workmanship. Time management, teamwork, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role. Attention to fine details and quality control is crucial to provide the Wilderness Vans level of quality we are known for.

General:



Insulate the interior of vehicle and install furring strips and cladding Upholster and install wall, door, and ceiling panels Install various types of flooring Cut window/skylight/vent openings, install components ensuring they are sealed properly Install roof racks, solar systems, bumpers, winches, mudflaps, exterior propane grills Install cabinetry, seats, beds, appliances Install, trouble-shoot/repair 12 V and 110V AC components Install, trouble-shoot/repair water lines, water pumps, hot water heaters, sinks, showers Test systems in the vehicle and verify proper operation and quality control Keep a detailed and accurate log of build processes, equipment used, time spent, and communications with other departments

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



Carpenter Journeyman Ticket (finishing) - other Trade Tickets maybe considered if there is also equivalent demonstrated building/finishing experience

Bona Fide Operational Requirements:



A valid AB driver's license and a clean driver's abstract submitted within 3 months Be able to work on feet, crouch, bend, reach above shoulders and work on knees consistently throughout the day Lift and carry at least 50 lbs of equipment or materials safely and without strain Work with/tolerate chemical classes that require use of PPE and WHMIS observance Maintain regular, punctual, attendance and abide by all company policies and procedures Must be able to work PERMANENTLY in Canada. We cannot support LMIA applications at this time.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
